  1. Do you mean how many FA's have to relocate from where they live after they get a job with an airline? Nearly all of them, unless they happen to live near the domicile (crew base) they are assigned to. Unfortunately, you often don't get to choose where you'll be based when you start, but you can bid a change of domicile as you gain seniority. Many FA's actually commute from home but most maintain a shared apartment at their domicile so they have a place to sleep the night before a shift starts and at the end of a shift if it's too late to commute home. This is true for the pilots too.


  2. My sister-in-law is a FA for Southwest which is home-based in Oakland, CA. She lives in Boise and flies very early to Oakland so that she can begin her workday.  It does make for extra commuter miles, but it's worth it to her.
