  1. It varies from different laws state to state, province to province.

    The most common is 5 meters  and in English that's about 15 feet.


  2. Stop sign….One car length.

    Fire hydrant...10 or 15 feet each direction.

    Scene of crash...500 feet minimum.

    Railroad.... 15ft to 50ft away from the tracks.

    Curb...8 to 12 inches.

    Crosswalk.... 20ft.

    But remember that this will vary from state to state and country to country.
