  3. A barrel of petroleum is 42 gallons of petroleum.  How much useable gas you can get out of it depends on its exact composition and purity.

  4. A lot of nimrods here didn't answer your question, they just typed lame responses. However, I would just like to add that with the price of a barrel of oil approaching 100 bucks, I'm so glad my car runs on gasoline and not oil.

  5. clhen37 is right.

A barrel of petroleum is 42 US gallons.

Depending on the quality of the crude feedstock and the capabilities of a refinery, most of it can be refined into gasoline.   Or kerosene, jet fuel, motor oil, or other petroleum distillates.  Or some portion of each.   And the residual can be used for asphalt or Bunker fuel oil for ships and boilers.

  6. None dummy.It's a barrel of oil!!!

  7. A barrel of crude oil is measured as 42 US gallons.  Within that 42 gallons of crude oil is about 19.5 gallons of refinable gasoline.  The remainder cracks into other fuels and feedstocks.

  8. 31 US gallons
