  1. You would have to figure out how many MPG you get and the average cost of the gasoline.  So if you are getting around 20 MPG and you have to drive 3,000 miles and your gas tank holds roughly about15 gallons of gasoline you could figure it from there.  I get roughly about 20 mph with my car and when I drive to Anchorage I use about 2 gallons of gasoline which equals to about $7.20 in fuel costs.  So if I get 4 gallons of gasoline at $3.60 a gallon I can make a trip to Anchorage and back on approximately $14.40 with today's fuel costs.

It's 40 miles to Anchorage from where I live.  So roughly I just put $20 in my gas tank whenever I take a trip to Anchorage and back!

So if it costs $40 to fill your tank and it's about 15 gallons and you get 20 miles MPG.  On one tank of gas you should go about 300 miles.  It would cost you about $400 in gasoline I would presume to drive 3000 miles.  That is just estimating the cost of gasoline of course and how many MPG you get.

  2. fill the tank upto top.drive the car on the interstate at 55mile per hour.driv 5,10,mile.stop fill it up to top,and devide your gallons into your miles that will tell you.or tenths of gallon.

  3. Try this.  It's always served me well.

  4. impossible to know without knowing the MPG.

    What year avenger?

  5. To get a more acurate measure, you need to know what size gas tank you have, and what fuel milege you get. Also you need to figure your average speed, and if you will be going through small towns with stoplights or staying on the interstate,or highway. How much weight you are hauling, and if your car is tuned up and in proper running conditions will be all factors.

  6. This depends on the mpg of the vehicle and driver combination.

To compute mpg,   fill the car and record the mileage or reset the trip counter.   Next fill up,   figure the miles traveled and divide by gallons added.    This is mpg,   or miles per gallon.

To figure the gallons you will use,  divide the miles to travel (3000)   by the mpg number you figured.   This will give the approximate gallons needed.  Add 20%,   and figure $4 per gallon (in US)  or about 50 cents more than the price in your neighborhood.    This gives a cushion for traffic,  weather,  mountains,   unplanned expenses (breakdown or tire).
