  1. There is an estimated 1.4 billion cubic kilometres of water on the planet, of which 97.4% (1.36 billion km^3) is salt water. To put that in more familiar units, that's 359,000,000,000,000,000,000 (359 quintillion) US gallons or 1,360,000,000,000,000,000,000 (1.36 sextillion) litres.
