  3. ROD WISHART

    1994 KANGAROO  17 TESTS  13  TRIES   43 GOALS  138 POINTS

The above record speaks for itself.   Wishy was a point scoring machine for the club, constantly breaking records.  His performances for both New South Wales and Australia were brilliant.  He scored over 20 points in a game countless times for Illawarra and racked up some impressive tallies in Test Matches.  Wishy had the ability to make a break when all seemed lost, and make that bone crunching try - saver when required.  His penultimate round try against Manly at Brookvale in the end of the '92 season is something all true Steeler fans cherish, and his leap to score against Canberra for the St.George-Illawarra Dragons at Bruce stadium was instumental in kicking off a purple patch for the dragons .   He has a swag of achievements, too numerous to mention here.  A role model for any aspiring athlete, Wishy retired after the '99 gf after flirting with the idea of playing super 12 for the ACT Brumbies and now seems to be the lone Steeler voice through his column in the Mercury.

    ILLAWARRA STEELERS 1989 -1998  156 GAMES  68 TRIES  386 GOALS  1044 POINTS

NEW SOUTH WALES  22 STATE OF ORIGINS  5 TRIES   23 GOALS  66 POINTS
