I'm trying to figure out drink packages for my upcoming wedding and I'd just like to take a survey to help me.

How many glasses of alcohol (wine or hard liquor) do you (or people in general) usually drink for the duration of a wedding?

Do you usually drink wine or hard liquor?

Thank you much! :D

  1. The first hour is usually the heaviest in alchohol consumtion. Allow 2-3 cocktails per person.

    ***1 bottle of hard liqour= 15-18 drinks

i.e. vodka, gin, sweet vermouth, dry vermouth, scotch bourbon, whiskey, rum, & tequila are all popular liqour

***Allow 1 bartender per 50 guests

***Allow 2-3 drinking glasses per person

    ***1 case of champagne= 75 drinks

***Allow 1 1/2 cases per 100 guests for the toast

***3 cases per 100 for continuous service

    ***1 bottle wine= 6 drinks

***Generally white wine to red wine ratio is two to one

***Beer drinkers usually consume 4 bottles on average

  2. people will drink whatever is there. i would bet for 2 per hour per person. so say you have a reception that last for 4 hours? that would be 8 drinks. but almost no one stays until the end anyway so i would say 5-7 would be a good estimate.

  3. Usually I have one drink as a guest, but when I was a maid of honor I had 4 drinks :)

  4. Well do you have alot of drinkers? I'd say atleast 3-4 per person.  Heavier drinkers could drink twice that amount.  Better to be safe than sorry.  We had open bar.

  5. i usually have around 4 or 5.

i'd say to be safe you should do at lesat 5 per person. because some people may only drink 2 or 3.. but others may drink 6 or 7 or more.

  6. This is what we are working on for our renewal of vows, which is similar to what we had at our wedding, and which was recommended as being roughly the right amount by the Sommelier at our venue:

All of these have soft drinks alternatives/additions

On arrival (one hour before the ceremony):

    Champagne

    Kir Royale

we are allowing for half a bottle of champagne per adult

    Reception:

2/3 bottle of red or white wine per adult

    1/2 bottle Champagne per adult

1-2 liquers (brandy/Cointreau/Port) with coffee after dinner.

    Open bar.

The rule is roughly what you would expect your Guests consumption to be at a dinner party followed by dancing.

and yes... all of our Guests will commonly drink wine with dinner.

  7. It depends on if it is an open bar or not. When people know that it is an open bar they tend to drink a lot more. If it is an open bar I think that people usually tend to drink more hard liquor - but it also depends on the crowd of people.

I would say that on average each person has 2-3 drinks...but again, it depends on the crowd....

  8. I would say one to two drinks per hour per legal adult.

  9. I've never been to a wedding where hard liquor was available. Even so, I'd probably stick to the wine and have around 5 glasses.

It depends a lot on your family and friends though. I know a few people that don't drink at all, some who will only have a couple of glasses (esp people who are driving) and some who will drink around 10-15 (whether they should or not!)

If you're looking for the best deal, I'd only offer beer and wine rather than hard liquor.

  10. Our local liquor store helped us with figuring out the amounts and types of liquor for our open bar, and wine and beer.

I'm not a big drinker, so I'd have one drink during cocktails, a glass of wine during dinner, and maybe two alcoholic drinks during the dance - I tend to drink water.

People usually drink wine with the meal; it's usual to have a bottle of white and red at each table of eight, for example. Actually not very many will continue to drink wine during the evening.

For our wedding for 200, the guesstimates were pretty good - they had to get more beer, though, during the dance.

  11. It really depends on the group.  You probably have a good idea of the drinking habits of your friends & family.  Some will drink more & some will drink less, but I think 3-4 drinks per person would be a good guess for the supply if you have nothing else to go on.  Good luck!

  12. some times way to much
