  1. ok, to answer your first question, NONE!  a 5 gallon is too small to be keeping any goldfish, unless u have a constant water change on them.

i suggest you going to a petsmart, and asking them yourself, and they will tell you what i would "2 of either, platies, mollies, or 3 guppies and a ghost shrimp.

i hate anythign under 10 gallons really, you cant fit as much as you see it displayed with, and goldfish bowls are an redundant item.

  2. 6 of the small plain ones.

  3. Goldfish need at least 20 gallons and ever new fish you need 10 gallons. I suggest getting maybe a couple of male guppies in a filtered 5 gallon tank, but make sure the tank is the right tempature, consider getting a heater.

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure goldfish eat snails and shrimp.

  4. Hey there, if you ever make it this far down reading your answers,...

    HERE IS THE RULE

For most fish, with an except to African Cichlids, betas, and a few others, so long as the fish are all on the same agressive level, you may figure out how many fish can go into your tank by adding the max size the fish grow to be (in inches) and that number should not exceed the gallons your tank holds.

For example- 2 Red Pacus, growing to a max length of 14" (and mine actually grew to be 14 and 18). For simplicity sake 14+14=28   So, if you know they will not grow larger than those numbers you are inputting, you could probably get a way with putting them in a 29g tank.

With goldfish, I would suggest what everyone else has, and say no more than one, at most, two small ones. Remember they will grow.  I don't know about shrimp. If you really wanted you could add one I guess.  NO to most snails. Some large ones are not too bad.

    Hope this is of help.

  5. 0 goldfish can fit in a 5 gallon.

    20 gallon atleast for goldfish.

i dont think you understand that a 5 gallon is to small for almost every thing! you need atleast a 20 gallon for most fish!

  6. 1. NONE!!!

Each goldfish needs at least 15 gallons all to itself.  Seriously!!  They produce a lot of waste and will poison themselves in small amounts of water.  Even with a filter.

~Also, goldfish can get big (up to 2 feet long!) and live up to 25 years.  They aren't the easiest fish to keep.

    2. Goldfish are best with other goldfish only.

Goldies like cold water.  All other aquarium inhabitants need warmer water than what's good for goldies.  Also, pretty goldfish fins get nipped by, well, pretty much anything fast enough to catch them.

    3.  Skip shrimp and snails.

    4.  Not in a 5 gallon.  If you wanted to get a 100 gallon, you could get 2 goldfish and some white cloud minnows.  They like it cold.

ALL other aquarium life wants the water warm.  Too warm for goldfish.

    5.  NONE!!!  No shrimp.  No snails.

    Don't believe me?

www.kokosgoldfish.com is a fantastic site for all things goldfish.

Google goldfish.  Tons of care sheets come up and you can read for yourself.

In a 5 gallon you can have:

    3 guppies.

    or

    3 zebra danios

    or

    3 leopard danios

THAT IT!!!   Don't mix and match, don't get one of each.  They need to be in groups of 3 or more, and only 3 will fit in that tank.

You could maybe add a ghost shrimp.  Just 1.

Mystery/apple snails is what you'd want in your tank and they get too big to have with the fish.  You could have fish OR the snail, not both.

  7. Sorry but not even one gold fish can go into a 5 gallon tank. One gold fish needs atleast a 10 gallon, and for every other gold fish add another 10 gallons. You can however put some guppies by themselves, or maybe even a pretty Betta?

  8. Goldfish are hard to keep.  Their ammonia level is very high.  I had one grow very big.  it started out as a 2 inch fish and very soon outgrew the 5 gallon tank i had it in. I gave it to a person with an outdoor garden pond.  And 2 years  later is doing great.  at her biggest, i was cleaning the tank everyday.  it was just too much.
