How many grams of NaCl are contained in 350. mL of a .250M solution of sodium chloride?

  1. M = moles / litre

    So if you convert 350. mL to L (.350L) and then multiply by .250 M, you'll get the number of moles NaCl contained.  Multiply that by the molar mass of table salt (22.99 g Na + 35.45 g Cl) and you will have your answer.


  2. Moles = Molarity x Volume ( in Liters)

    Moles = 0.250 x 0.350 L = 0.0875

    Mass = moles x molar mass = 0.0875 mol x 58.4428 g/mol =5.11 g
