Maybe you're right julia, but mono can take years to heal cuz there are currently no cure for it. And i can't beleive a players can lose so much of his abilities in a such small amount of time just because of aging. anyway, you may be right, but as a Federer fan, I just hope he'll be in great shape for next season. I wouldn't bet much on him to win this years US Open

  1. I don't think he would have won Australian open. He would have had less humiliating defeat at the RG. The only tournament he would have won would be the Wimbledon.

  2. I think he'd have won the Australian Open, definitely, but that's it. I mean, c'mon, he had mono months and months ago, it can't still be a factor! He wouldn't have won RG anyway - if he he didn't win before Rafa came along, just face it, he won't win now...and by the way he fell to the Spaniard in the final, it doesn't even look like he wants to - and the Wimbledon final was incredibly hard, Rafa won because in the end he was more decisive...the guy *does* have more mental strength than anyone who's ever played this game afterall. Oh, and besides, of course, he showed such momentum before the rain delays that if it weren't for those a 3-0 victory wouldn't surprise anyone watching that game. Not me anyway.

Now in the HC season he always looks amazing in the beginning, looking like he'll be in the final of every tournament, and then suddenly loses to someone who you'd never EVER guess he'd lose to (Gilles Simon, anyone???), regardless of how well his opponent played. It was like that in Toronto, it was like that in Cincinnatti, it was like that in Beijing. But who knows, maybe his doubles gold with Wawrinka gave him the extra "something" he needed to be motivated again and the US Open will be different. While I do hope Rafa wins next Sunday, a 5-set, tie-break-filled Rog-Rafa final wouldn't be half-bad.

  3. He was never affected by mono, otherwise he would not have beaten both Berdych and Blake (among the best hard court players in the world) in straight sets at the Australian Open - even he said that he was feeling hundred percent before the Aussie. Other players are figuring out his style, and he is no match anymore for power players like Rafa and Novak. These guys can play a 30 stroke rally without even flinching - Federer will eventually hit a ball out or in the net. If he gets to the semis he will be destroyed by Novak - if by some miracle he gets by the Serb, Nadal will beat him easily. Whenever he is pressured from the baseline by players who are no longer afraid of him (like how Blake beat him at the Olympics) he makes mistakes. He didn't win any slams this year because his game is longer threatening. Federer will never dominate again.

  4. He never had mono he just thought he did after Mirka sat on him during and argument.

  5. Well, He might of won the Australian Open but I don't think the glandular fever had any impact at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. I don't think anyone could argue that Nadal thoroughly deserved these two.

  6. i think all of them, he's the best

  7. just the Australian. he was over that by the time of French and Wimbledon

  8. ZERO and he never had mono. He just came up with the mono bs to discredit Novak (and use it as a future excuse) who worked so hard to defeat him.

  9. All of them. its not whether he was still sick it's when you're constantly flying and playing such a high impact he wouldn't recover properly until he takes the long break during christmas.

He would of won aussie he just had ridiculous missed opportunities against djokovic. Wimbledon he would of if it wasn't because of his set point he lost during 2nd set because of the person who yelled out. Lost of bad luck this year.

The media constantly bagging him all year around doesn't help either. He's still a fabulour champ its just people have now just broken down his game a figured how to beat him.

    GO FEDERER

  10. i think nadal is an overall better player than federer, even when federer plays his best, nadal usually beats him! nadal basically owns federer!

9/11 was an inside job, it is scientifically impossible to prove for the scientists how that event can happen! US govet. never went to the moon, it was a race between soviets and US to who can lie to the world better!

federer will always use mono excuse when he loses, he wont win the french open thats 100% certain and i think he might only JUST beat sampras' record and finish with 15 slams! i think rafa nadal will eventually become the greatest of all time whether ppl like it or not! federer just aint good enough to beat nadal now! nadal has federer's number for sure! federer i think will finish the year number 3 in the world! next year he might even be out of the top 5! im afraid fed's game style is too outdated and the younger brand of tennis like nadal's has proven that its superior and its the way of the future! federer is too classical and he cannot stand up to the 21st century style of tennis played by nadal! just like serve and volley is history, so is the style of federer's! sad but true! nadal will have more slams than federer, im sure he will!

  11. The Aussie and Wimbledon and maybe the French.

He will win the U.S. Open.

  12. 1, i think only the australian as of rite now tho he still has a chance to win the us open

  13. we'll never know, since he had it.-

  14. NONE

  15. Federer had mono?

    I don't think so...

Ancic had mono and he at least had been sidetracked for 6 months that's what you call sick. I think federer is just losing his finesse as a great player. we have to admit to the fact that his reign is over...
