  1. I have been going to Thailand for over 35 years - BKK, Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, Phitsanulok, etc.

I have recently discovered Khon Kaen - About 45 minute flight to Northeast Thailand with some great people, food and atmosphere.

It has the best of both worlds - you can eat along a river or lake under a thatched roof - and then go to the mall for DVDs and pirated software.

    You can see pictures here

I will be heading back to KK in September to marry the lady I met online and have visited the last two time I visited Thailand - really looking forward to it.

  2. tough question because you are talking about a large area - -

Visited would better describe it for me - - I have a niece and nephew living in Buriram - I have been for parties etc - - and driven throughout - - the people are nice but it is pretty dry and the land looked so thirsty and sad - - other than the special events, like the elephant fest in Surin - there is not alot of tourism promoted in the area - Udon has Baan Chiang?? one of the cradles of civilization with maybe the most advanced bronze age relics - Buriram has the old temples- but not really too much exciting -

dislike - they drive like a pinball machine gone wild - kamikaze drivers with no regard for others - I try and get behind a bus or truck and let them serve as a blocker so I am not hit head on..

  3. I definitely prefer the south food better than the Isan food, I noticed when I order the same thing that I got in the south in Isan the taste just wasn't there, bland. The south Thailand seafood is the best!!!

The women in Isan are very beautiful, but a bit pale for my taste I prefer dark women;-) I guess I am a little biased!

The one thing I did like about Isan is that there aren't an over abundance of tourists. You go to Phuket, Samui just to name a few and it's packed with tourists.

  4. i hate almost everything there.

just becareful when you cross the road! seriously!

people over there like to say how bad bangkok people are, but then see all the crime in BKK, most of them been done by isan people!

    sorry to tell the truth!

  5. I spend a bit of time in Udorn and a village not far from That Phanom.  The one thing I can say is no matter how poor these people are they always have a smile on there face and will treat you as an honor guest when you visit there home.  And the women aren't that bad either.

p.s. I hope my wife don't see this.  lol
