How many here don't know New Mexico is one of the 50 states?

I asked this in Politics already, but I thought I'd try it in Civic Participation too.

New Mexico Magazine has had a column for years called "One Of Our 50 Is Missing," and it's chock full of stories about people who have run into problems because they're not considered citizens of the United States by some people.

I, myself, have been sent international reply coupons by companies in places like New York and Chicago needing me to return stuff to them.

Not common tho, I see/hear a lot of american people that doesn't know the major states are... or places in the world "Taiwan is known for their Tai-food". - or "There are 52 states"
