his 20th season. He is slumping bad this year, only hitting around .168. He will probably play 2 more years, and he'll end his career with around 2,800 hits. He will make the Hall of Fame though, because afterall, he has like 11 gold gloves.

I'd like to see him get to 3,000 hits, but I just don't think it's going to happen.

  1. He isn't slumping, he's just finished with his career. It's only a matter of time before he retires which is probably at the end of the year. The only way he can finish with 3,000 hits is if, at his pace, plays 7 more seasons. Prediction: 2,690 hits.

  2. FYI regarding Lofton: he has been offered opportunities but wants money like a FT starter. It is by his own choosing that Lofton is not playing in the MLB at this time. As for Omar, I think he is awesome and it was great to see him play in Cleveland this season. I wish the Indians would bring him back - he would only be a bench player, of course, but I think it would be very fitting to see him retire as an Indian although I can't see the Indians doing that. I don't believe Omar will reach 3000. I would say 2700 or so because it appears his best playing days are long behind him. I don't see him playing as a starter after this season.

  3. I'm sure that he'll get 3,000 hits.

When he first entered the league many many experts said he wouldnt make it in the majors because he just couldnt hit, and for his first few years he couldn't. But he was always a hard worker and he has proven all of those experts wrong (or so I think). I think he will get 3,000 because if he was a regular baseball player he would probably only have two more years left in him, but he's no quitter. He's Omar Vizquel

    :]

  4. 2,628

  5. i think he will get 2800+ hits. he is an everyday player and if he stays healthy he will get plenty of atbats.

there is no doubt that he is a HOFer. he had a good career, he is tremendous with the glove, and i think he will have enough hits to qualify him a HOF  spot.

3000 wont happen. he would have to really start hitting well and he is a career .270 hitter.

  6. Considering the current trend in signing older players, or rather not signing older players, this is likely Vizquel's last year as a regular. Lofton doesn't have a job and he's a superior player.

As for HOF, I doubt he'll get in on the first try. Ozzie Smith got in more because he was flashy. Vizquel has been the more quietly good. 3,000 hits would cement him instantly, but he'll be a fiercely debated player without it.

  7. i think vizquel is done after this year, it's clear that he can no longer hit major league pitching and he hasn't been a worthwhile hitter since he was in his prime with the indians...based on this he'll be hard pressed to get to 2700
