  1. 3 holes. They have those holes so when to trow the bowling ball to hit the pins, it's easier. Hope I helped! Plz pick me as best answer. I am in desperate need of points! I have never been picked for best answer before!

  2. 3 holes one for your thumb and two for you two middle fingers...

  3. 5 holes and there to put your fingers in and they have diffeernt sizes

  4. It will vary depending on the ball and the bowler.

A standard ball that you find on the rack at your local bowling alley will have 3 holes, one for your thumb and two more above it for your ring and middle fingers.

High performance bowling balls have non-symetric weight distribution and depending on the way the ball is drilled, an additional weight hole is needed to make the ball legal according to USBC (United States Bowling Congress) regulations.  The USBC is the governing body in bowling and they have rules regarding the weight distribution in a ball and sometimes a weight hole is needed.  This can bring our number of holes up to 4.

Some bowlers choose to have an extra hole(s) drilled for their pinky and/or index finger which can take the number of up to 5 or 6.

The USBC also allows small "vent holes" to be drilled next to any gripping hole.  You can have up to 5 gripping holes (5 fingers) and up to 5 venting holes.  This can take us up to 11 total holes, including the previously mentioned weight hole.

Finally, professional tournaments and other big money tournaments occasional need to drill a small "mill hole" to determine the hardness of the bowling ball, again this is an issue of legality with the USBC.

This gives us a possiblity of 12 total holes in the bowling ball which is the maximum allowed by the USBC.  I have never seen a ball with this many holes, but it is possible.

  5. There are 3 holes in a bowling ball. You use your ring finger, your middle finger,  and your thumb to grip the bowling ball and roll the bowling ball down a lane to hit 10 pins set up in a triangular formation at the end of a lane. Highest score wins. All hole sizes vary depending on the bowlers hand size and size of fingers as well.
