  1. hundreds.

    Some of the more common are Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Suse, Mandrake, and many versions of each, wow to name them all would fill this page and a few others.

    I haven't used many Linux systems in the past few years other than ubuntu, and suse.

    Google it.


  2. Lots and lots, it changes all the time. New "distributions" as they're called can be created very often and other distributions become unsupported, so it changes all the time. I have heard an estimate that sounds quite accurate, around 350-400 mainstream "distros" (For short) that can be installed on a normal computer.
