ferrets sleep when they're not playing with you, eating, drinking, or pooping. anytime you want to take them out, they'll be fine with it. they'll sleep any part of the day.

Most ferrets sleep for up to 20 hours a day. They do get up to eat and use the bathroom every 3 hours also, but go right back to sleep. So they are only fully awake and wanting to play for around 4 hours and during that time the ferret(s) need to out of their cage and exploring even if its a spare room.
