    Private fund managers, depending on their trading methods, work far less hours--1 to 3 hours on average. Some trade asian time zone, others trade european time zone, the rest trade US markets. http://jsforex.blogspot.com

  3. it depends on the manager.  Some mutual funds have a mostly solid base with little turn-over so the managers do not have to do that much to work on the fund, on the other hand some managers like to d a lot of research and change the stocks held in their funds quite often, these guys put in a lot of hours.
