  1. The timetables average 4hrs 30min for the fastest journeys between Edinburgh and London on the East Coast and 5hrs between Glasgow and London.

They have only just reached the speeds of the fastest steam hauled trains of the early 20th century.

  2. about  11 hours i think. depends on where abouts in scotland you want to go

  3. It realy depends on where you are traveling to in Scotland, but it normaly around 4, 4& a half hours.

  4. http://www.thetrainline.com/default.asp?... Go on here and you type in both places and it gives you the time and switchovers. Its really good I use it alot.

  5. Use this link for National Rail Enquires

    http://ojp1.nationalrail.co.uk/en/pj/jp

You can check times, routes and prices from here.

  6. I agree with the answers of 4.5 hours to Edinburgh via East Coast and 5 to Glasgow by the West. Paul's suggestion that these are only now reaching the speeds of the fastest steam trains of the early 20th century is just nonsense. Both main lines are passed for 125mph running where appropriate. Steam trains rarely travelled above 80mph in day to day service (altho' Mallard's record is 126mph), and modern diesel and electric traction has far faster acceleration.  In steam days it would take about 8 hours to reach either city from London.

  7. It depends on the route and where in Scotland but you should get there in anywhere between six and eight hours.

  8. about 4 hours

  9. Type in "trains" into google.co.uk and click on the first link for the Nationl rail enquiries site..it'll provide you with train times and fares...  Good luck!

  10. You will cross the Scottish Border within four hours of leaving either London Euston or London Kings Cross by train.

  11. Kings Cross to Edinburgh about 4 hours or 5 to Glasgow.

Euston to Glasgow about 5 hours.

If you're going to Aberdeen or Inverness about 8 to 10 hours.

You can go on a sleeper service from Euston to destinations like Fort William or Inverness leaves London about 20.30 arrives early hours.

Probably best to look on national Rail website for accurate info.

    Hope this helps
