Question:

How many hours of ballet a week should i be doing?

I take three two hour lessons a week and then another two hours in my dance studio at my boarding school, how much should i be doing a week to keep improving, i have been dancing since i was 4, i am now 15 i have been dancing en pointe for about 2 years now.

  1. It depends on what you want as a career when you are older. If you choose to be a professional dancer, I would spend a little more time focused on dance. But if you rather be something else, focus on your school work. You have a good routine going on right now.


  2. That really sounds like plenty to me. I have been dancing for 12 years; 6 on pointe. I take 3 classes per week each for an hour and a half.

    If you feel like you're doing fine in the classes you are in, then stay with just those. Make sure you are a little bit challenged though.

    If you feel its way too easy and you need more..then talk to your instructor about possibly placing you in one extra class per week.

  3. That sounds about right for a 15 year old as you should also concentrate on your studies aswell!

    Just do as much as you feel is right.

    If your making steady progress and improvment then its probly enough! you can all just step up the hours near a show or dance exam if you feel you need it.

    Everyone is different so there is no set number of hours to be doing to be good. as long as your having fun as well :D
