  1. Depends on the format and the amount of compression you want to apply.

If you import standard definition video from a miniDV tape based camcorder, that is about 14 gig per hour of video.

70 gig / 14 gig per hour = 5 hours. (Though you should never completely fill a drive - there should ALWAYS be at least 10% available space). HDV will use about 4x-5x more space than DV.

But I can compress that 1 hour of DV into a data file that looks good in a 2 inch window on my computer and only use a couple hundred meg of space on the hard drive so I could store WAY more than 5 hours of video in that 70 gig. But if I want to watch it full screen it will look like garbage.

  2. Quality                 (60GB)                  (120GB)  hi definition

HD FH                 430 min.                890 min.

HD HQ                880 min.              1780 min.

HD SP              1070 min.              2160 min.

HD LP               1370 min.              2880 min

  3. Assuming a 2 hour video to be about 700MB i would say 204.8 hours of video.

    Work: 70GB / 700MB = 102.4 * 2 hours equals 204.8 hours.

However the quality of the video and the type of file the video is in (ex. avi; mpeg; mp4) contribute to how much memory the video takes up, which would change the amount of hours of video 70GB can hold.
