  1. I've heard that studying before you go to bed is actually a better idea than doing it in the morning because when you go to bed and sleep, your brain often keeps working on problems you haven't solved (I mean this in a general sense, not literally). So do it before you go to bed.

Also, make sure you're not aiming for the lowest possible score the NYU will accept because that won't guarantee your getting in. Aim as high as you can.

As for how many hours, it all depends on what you have issues in. If you suck at math, focus on math for a longer time than the rest. I wouldn't do blocks of more than two hours at a time because you'll get tired and restless and stop paying attention. Make sure you take a lot of practice tests!

  2. 0 hours

  3. get up early and study for 2 hours in the morning, 5 days a week.

  4. well 2 hours. My friend did that and she got into Rutgers.

  5. There isn't a set number of hours you should be studying for--it all depends on the intensity of your studying.  I did really well on my SATs just by doing practice tests 3 times a week (every sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday).  I did them in a proper environment, and timed myself.

When you set a number of hours for yourself, you will dread studying and stare at the clock every 10 minutes, so instead give yourself physical goals, such as "I'll finish the math section today..." etc. That way, you accomplish more than just saying "I studied for 4 hours day..."

And do those practice tests!  Practicing makes all the difference.

    Good luck!

  6. It depends on how well you are progressing. If you take a practice exam every other week or so and see your score improving each time, you know that you are studying an appropriate amount.

I have found in my experience that no amount of solo studying can compare with the help of an expert. I suggest you obtain the services of an SAT tutor for at least part of your study time, so they can help you not only with the material, but they also have the benefit of knowing test-taking strategies.

I have tutored SAT prep for many years and have the experience to see how the test changes over the years, and the best strategies to get the highest score.

  7. As much as you can without burning up,

I'd say about an hour or two daily or as often as you can.-Knowledge is power.

  8. i didnt study at all and did really well. if you do well in school there really is no reason.
