This is the pattern - McCalls 4378. I'm told it's fairly simple.

Also, excluding fabric, how much is it likely to cost ?

Roughly how much fabric would be needed to make it in a women's size 16 ?

  1. This pattern is for a fully lined dress that requires 11 5/8 yards of 45" wide fabric (standard width for most fabric) plus almost 10 yards of lining fabric in size 16 .  You should compare your measurements to the sizes on the pattern back because ready to wear sizes are NOT the same as sewing pattern sizes.

While this is a simple looking style, because it is fully lined the dressmaker effectively has to make it twice: the outer dress and the lining.  The trim around the neck and sleeves add to the time required.  This dress is not going to be quick or inexpensive for your dressmaker to put together.

  2. It definitely depends on the dressmaker no matter how professionally the person may be.   Each person woks at his/her own pace.

if you need someone to do some work fore you, just simply seek.  Good luck

  3. it would depend on the dress maker, check with each individual dress maker for prices

  4. If you have the pattern, read the back of the envelope in which it comes.  This tells you how much fabric is needed for each size of the garment.  It gives different yardage lengths depending on the width of the fabric, so check carefully.

For all your other questions, contact the dressmaker personally and ask.  Each of these questions could receive a different answer from a different dressmaker.
