An interesting question indeed.

I work the construction industry and plow snow and this is what I have noticed.

As for houses there really isn't that many,however lean to's parking roofs such as carports have high numbers.

There is a higher number in commercial building roof collapses in buildings with flat roofs.

In the last 20+ years here in the front range of Colorado we have had several 2' - 3' snowstorms that really push the structural limits.
