By how many I also mean area (or acreage!) of greenery.

I used to have a lot of different plants, but most of them have died either through neglect, cats, children or mostly I think, the central heating, which I never had until I moved to my current home. I need to counteract the effects of the gas boiler as well as TV, computer and the like.

Spider plants are the only ones to thrive but I think that's because I move them to the bathroom or landing for a holiday. I would like more variety.
