  1. india is everywhere.and so also in australia.

  2. Quite a few. Indian is almost as common as Chinese.

  3. In the 2007 census just completed, the count was 5,497 restaurants claiming to be Indian, of which, 79% were North Indian, 14% South, with the remaining claiming 'other' fo speciality.

  4. There would be at least 50 in every capital city (except maybe Darwin, its quite a small town)

And in most towns of over 100.000 people I would be very surprised if you couldnt find 8-10.

I live a city of 300000 and there are 7 within a 10 minute taxi ride of my house, and at least another 15 than I can think of in the town.

For some reason (in my town)  mostly North Indian, but you can find South Indian without much difficulty.

    .

  5. Not as many as here I doubt as they dont let Indians in as much as we do.  I spent a month in Oz and didnt see that many in the areas I visited.  Tended to be more Far Eastern places.

  6. There are loads! We're not toally backwards you know! The best Indian resturants in Sydney are in a huddle on Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, near South Dowling - Dhaba is the best one!

  7. Quite a few.  Just check out the list on VegDining.com:
