    5. This young Mum nearly died bcos of a lack of medical facilties couldn't enable her deliver her babies earlier...Why didn't she have the choice to name even 1 of her seven miracles???

because its a mans world in egypt.

  2. omg, bear, don't know if your male or female, but ivf is for any women out there who cant have children, their only hope.  I hope you never find yourself in the situation of never having children because they truly are a gift and if they are conceived naturally or through medical science then every woman who wants a child should be able to have that.  I have 3 that were conceived naturally but if i weren't able to have children IV would have been a natural choice.

I hope bear gets lots of thumbs down for his unsympathetic opinion

  3. Morning Faith, what we have here is a culture problem, Egypt along with most predominantly Muslim populations value male children above female children. The reason for this is that male children are more able (financially) to look after their parents in old age. It is also to some degree based in religion.

Health-care in Egypt is in fact quite good, even if not as sophisticated as the west, however it is not cheap either.

This one case actually highlights a worldwide problem in less developed countries, take India, Pakistan, China for instance where female children of poor families are regularly killed at birth simply because they are female.

Access to fertility drugs will only exacerbate the problem of over population which is after all the greatest threat to the human race.

    Edit.

I take your point Faith, but the problem still exists that male children are still favoured over females, particularly in poor families where girls are seen as a burden rather than a blessing.

  4. I don't believe in IVF for any woman. If you're not able to have kids, then so be it.That's Nature!

Kittykisskiss - Nature keeps a natural balance, that is why some men/women are unable to produce children. Why use artificial means in an overpoulated world, especially if you do not have the means to raise them.

    Feel free to e-mail me.

  5. Babe leave them to enjoy their children in peace.

  6. Because its Egypt.   c**p place

  7. I wish them well and firmly believe in every child a wanted child.

However, as someone who has experienced infertility and adoption I cannot understand the medical staff involved who would willingly give such treatment in the circumstances described to a family with three healthy children.

Just because you have the technology does not mean the right to use it on the whim (culutural or not) of such parents.

Fertility treatment is a wonderful thing, but should be used carefully and each case considered on it´s merits.

  8. . Why did they want a male child?

cos they already got 3 girls.  There is also pressure on women to produce a son as a point of pride and for financial reasons.  In many parts of Egypt, if she doesn't have a boy, it's as if she didn't have children at all."

    2. Why were fertility drugs given to a mum with 3 children?

she had not conceived in five years

    3. What do you think of "fetal reduction"...i'm speechless.

better to lose a few foetuses than all of them and the mother

    4. Is Egypt so poor that it cannot give better support to such cases???

egypt is poor, it gets a lot of aid - bribery money - from the US

    5. This young Mum nearly died bcos of a lack of medical facilties couldn't enable her deliver her babies earlier...Why didn't she have the choice to name even 1 of her seven miracles???

Egyptian tradition - in hopes of winning government help for the children
