  1. As many children as you have UNDER age 17, who were born by 12/31/07.  We have 4 children and received our $300 for each child via direct deposit last month, in one check with my husband's and my rebate combined for a total of $2400.** to add:  If you are upset that your check is lower than you expected, realize that adults (you and your husband) will qualify for $300-$600 each based on your tax liability.  If you did not pay $600 (or $1200 for married filing jointly) then you cannot get the full $600 or $1200 for tax filers back.  Dependents under age 17 will qualify for $300 each regardless of their parents tax liability. Check your 1040 form for the final "TAX PAID" amount, if it is less than $600/$1200 based on number of filers then that is why your check was for less, since this is a rebate.

  2. As many as you have who are YOUR children under age 17, claimed as your dependents.

  3. As many as you have that were on your 2007 tax return and 16 years old or younger.

  4. Are you a kid collector?  sorry, couldn't resist.  :)

All of the kids that qualify:  Under age 17 as of 12/31/07, and must otherwise qualify under the child tax credit.
