I live in TX and my sister, mom, and I are wanting to open a daycare. We want to start taking classes to become certified. I was wanting to know how many kids can each of us have in our care without getting into trouble with the state?

  1. http://nrckids.org/STATES/states.htm

that is the url for all the states regulations.  find your state and read up on your particular regs.  most states have different ratios that depend on the childrens ages.

  2. You need to get your information from the state. Don't rely on what anyone else tells you. No one else is going to pay a fine for you if they give you bad information!

But here's something to keep in mind: It will probably depend on the ages of the kids, among other things.

  3. Good Luck to you and your sister, I do know that depending on the licens you get from the state will determine how many children you are permitted to have.  Also if your doing child care out of your home  or somewhere else can also have an effect on your licensing.

Where my step sister takes her son (we live in ohio) they have 4 to 5 employees and can have up to 15 children , some days its less but it can't go over that amount.
