(226.8 kilograms; the New York Board of Trade, Cotton No. 2 Futures Contract is based on the Trading Unit of 50,000 lbs. net weight or approximately 100 bales); in Australia, the Australian Cotton Shippers Association sets bale weight at 227 kilograms (500 lbs.; range is set at 185 to 245 kilograms); in Egypt a bale weighs 327 kilograms (720 lbs.); the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) sets bale weight at 170 kilograms; in Brazil, the Bolsa de Mercadorias & Futuros (BF&M) sets bale weight from 180 to 250 kilograms (contract size is 12,500 kilograms)."
