  1. On the few cruise ships I've had to work on the generator packages ranged from 1025 kw to one mega watt. You don't have to be a rocket scientist or a genius to figure it out. Just someone that has had experience on a cruise ships engine room. I hoped this helped

  2. this question is going to need the help of some kind of genius or at least a rocket scientist...LOL.

And you're asking the question in Yahoo?....would all you geniuses please step up and answer the question.

  3. Depends on the size of the cruise ship, 1000kW = 1 megawatt. Cruise ship classification varies dependent on unique features such as passenger capacity, amenities.

One of the cruise ships I reviewed was the Mercury cruise Liner, it has a shitload of generator power for propulsion, the residual for electrical usage.

The vessel is propelled by four MAN B&W L48/60 non-reversible, four-stroke engines. Two have an output of 9,450kW and two of 6,300kW at 500rpm. Each gearbox is additionally provided with a power take-off for a 5,200kW shaft generator for electric power supply during the voyage.

    You do the math.
