Hello All,

I posted a Q earlier regarding this but I wanted to get a "head-count" of how many ladies have used St. John's Wart to help alleviate the symptoms of PMS and actually have a success story they would like to share? I am thinking of trying this to help me with my PMS driven moodiness (AKA b*tchiness) during my "time of the month").

Thanks in advance,

Brown Eyed Girl ;)

  1. Hi honey st johns wart is ok to use, but it is usually taken to help with stress, it takes about 6 - 8 weeks before you will see any changes as it takes that length of time to start to absorb into our bodies.

You need to keep taking it for the effects to work, I would suggest to go to the chemist/drug store and ask what they would recommend instead of SJW.

Hope that helps, I don't take it personally, but many of my friends do but only while they have a period and I find it no use as once they finish their period they stop the SJW.

Good Luck, actually instead of the chemist/drug store go to  a health store, they would be able to help you more.

  2. St John's Wort needs a longer period of time to work (6 weeks or more of CONTINUOUS use), so using it JUST for the week of your PMS symptoms isn't going to help you all that much...if at all.

I'd suggest you try Calmes Forte, another homeopathic compound by Hyland's.  You can take them anytime of day, even though they're touted as a "sleep aid".  They help to calm nerves and irritability.

Also, if you're using hormonal contraceptives do NOT use St John's Wort...it has been proven to cause inefficacy in hormonal contraceptives.  Just an FYI.
