  1. There are many languages spoken in Guatemala. Spanish, English, and 21 recognized Mayan Languages. Attached are three links that talk about the different Mayan Languages and shows a map of where the different languages are spoken.

  2. The *Languages* of Guatemala Total 24

Spanish 60%, Amerindian languages 40% (23 officially recognized Amerindian languages, including Quiche, Cakchiquel, Kekchi, Mam, Garifuna, and Xinca)

Some people here also seem to be confusing dialects with languages. The difference is a *Dialect* is a form or variety of a spoken language, including the standard form, peculiar to a region, community, social group, occupational group, etc. in this sense, dialects are regarded as being, to some degree, mutually intelligible while languages are not mutually intelligible... Hope this helps.

  3. Well, Guatemala is divided in what we could call states.

Spanish is the official languages, and if you go to the capital, the only language you are going to hear is spanish, there is some people that speak English, but trust me, Is very bad. people start taking english in elementary over there. But it is very limmited. Now if you go out of the city you could encounter many other languages, which many of us are embarrased about. People are very ignorant outside the capital unfortunately,  but the country is beautiful.

  4. For sure if you count dialects 80-90 different languages, there are some dialects that are not recognized, on my  grandmother's side they speak about 5 different dialects that only one is known. It also depends which area of Guatemala, each area has a slightly different culture.

  5. WELL ALOT BECAUSE EACH PART OR SECTION OF GUATEMALA SPEAKS DIFFERENTLY MY PARENT SPEAK 2 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES

  6. If you include travellers, then all languages are probably spoken in Guatemala. I know there are permanent residents from Malaysia, Japan, and Ceylon, for example.

  7. 21 mayan dialects. plus spanish. oh and garigfuna on the carribean coast. total=23 languages
