  1. When I first started in 2001, I began with 500m.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy lap swims, I enjoy it.

I try to do 1000m 5 days a week, but sometimes I am busy.

  2. For one, 25 meters isn't "small". Most beginning lap swimmers seem to think it takes forever; I use a SC pool to swim and when I'm not in the mood to swim, it seems like an eternity.

Anyway, you should do as many laps as you feel comfortable with doing. Maybe, in an hours time, you swim a 500 and you're exhausted. That's fine. Just swim until you need to stop and get out, but don't get out because you're a little winded. You just need to push yourself every time you get into the water.

Start small and start swimming longer and longer distances.

  3. im on a year round team and we usually do a whole mixtre of things like a day after a weekend meet we usually do a 400-600 then just on regular days we do 800 or more

    good luck!

  4. maybe a 200 swimm

    and a 100 kick?
