How many lbs of potato salad will feed 30 people?

i always use 10 lbs of potatoes.  you can use it not only for a side dish but also on saltine crackers.  its good on there like an appetizer :)  just a suggestion.

You never want to assume that some people won't eat it, becasue if they all do, you're screwed. I work for a catering company and I use 4 oz per person, so that would be 7.5# and i could round it up to 8, left overs are never a bad thing. We give the left overs to the homeless.

around 5-6 pounds give or take the portions the 30 people will be taking.

Depends on how much other food there is, but side salads generally consider 1/4 lb per person, so about 7-1/2 lbs of potato salad should work.  

More if the potato salad is very good and less if it sucks.

I would say about 6-7. Not everyone will eat it. You should be safe with that.
