How many legs on the bus?

This is a 5th grade math problem. It is not a trick question.

TIPS...This is a real math’s problem so don't say that a bus has no legs. The bus driver is not part of the equation. Good Luck.

There are 7 girls on a bus.

Each girl has 7 backpacks.

In each backpack, there are 7 big cats.

For every big cat there are 7 little cats.

Question: How many legs are there on the bus?

and 7 big cats = 7 x 4 legs = 28 legs

(7 x 7) small cats = 49 x 4 legs = 196 legs

so thats 14 + 28 + 196 legs

= 238 legs altogeher im guessing

thats how i would work it out

but then again, how could you fit 1 big cat in a backpack and then 7 little cats? surely the girls are technically the only ones on the bus...
