Why people kill them instead of calling forest official to capture it.

people are entering in the home of leopard & claimed that leopard is entering their area. It is not true. share some experience with me about human cruelty with leopard in recent past If you have any excet figure about population of leopards in india also provide me & suggest some sites or books where I get my answers.
