It has been scientifically proven by professional tootsie roll lovers, that it takes 127 licks to get the the middle of a tootsie pop, where the tootsie roll center is located. However, those who did not see the center after 127 licks, couldn't stand the pressure, and bit the tootsie pop, causing the center to be visible. I hope this answers your question.

Scientifically: You have to do is measure the amount of saliva you produce per l**k, measure the volume of the Tootsie Pop, find the amount each l**k your saliva takes away from the pop, and divide that much by the total volume of the Tootsie Pop.

Anecdotally: "I just did it today and it takes 446 licks to get to the chewy center of a loli pop. both of my friends did it today too and we are all 13 years old. One of them got 442 and the other got 449. So, around 450 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop."

Yes. When I was in sixth grade we did a lot of scientific method labs and I got inspired to find out the answer to this question. I had 8 neighborhood kids from different age ranges try 3 different times. They all had a different number and Im assuming toungue size and pressue plays a part in the amount of licks it takes to get to the center.

I sent the Tootsie Roll pop company my data along with the median and mean numbers. They sent me a form letter and a shirt. I wish I had kept my important research because I dont know that number anymore and that shirt is long gone.
