  1. a liter is a measure of volume.  a metric ton is a measure of weight.

liquids have a certain density, but this density is different at different temps.  there is a coefficient of expansion for each degree of temp (C or F)

so a liter of diesel will weigh different amount at different temps.

    a standard we use is at 15C  = 820 to 950 kg/cubic meter.

good luck and hope this answers your questions.

not all diesel has thesame density either.

  2. Hi!

Diesel fuel weighs approximately 850 grams per litre.

    (From http://www.answers.com/topic/diesel)

    A tonne equals 1000kg,

    so 1000/.850= 1,176.47 litres

Airliners measure their fuel loads by pounds, not by volume.

  3. Hi kachabali,

Diesel weight on average 7 pounds a gallon. (between 6.9 and 1.1 depends on its refinement)

Thats comes to 1.191877 litres per kg. (about 0.83kg/litre)

(which makes sense, since its less dense than water. 1 litre of water = 1kg)

    So, a tonne of diesel = 1191.877kg.
