How many lives has penicillin saved since its invention?

  1. Depends on what time period you're talking about. Like how many lives since it was founded or during WWI. Advances in the medical field have come a long way compared to the time when Alexander Flemming, 1928, discovered what effects it would have on Bacteria. We now have stronger medicines/drugs but Penicillin is still used widely today for illnesses that haven't fully advanced yet. I would have to say without Penicillin the population wouldn't be as great as it is today maybe cut down a third or so.
