  1. About 100.

When we buy apples for a restaurant they come in 4/5 bushel boxes with an average count per box on the side.  So a box that has an 80-90 count means there are 80-90 apples per box which is about what medium sized ones are.

  2. It would really depend on how much the apples weigh. Generally bushels relate to weight of an item, not the size of a "bushel basket".

bushel baskets are just an easier way for farm stands to sort produce but when it comes time to calculating cost/value it is alwasy based on weight. A bushel of apples weighs 42 lb.

IE: a bushel of large apples will weigh the same as a bushel of small apples.

The only way to know for sure is to find out the industry standard for size/weight of medium apples. There is a standard weight for egg sizes, I assume apples are similar.

  3. Let's do the math on this

A medium sized apple would be what is called a 100 sized apple.

    A standard apple box :

Will hold 40 lbs of product

Have a volume of 4/5 bushel

Since you can put 100 apples into that standard box your answer is 125 apples
