  1. At the start of World war 2 it is important to remember that the population of Britain was around 47,760,000.

    Military deaths during the second world war was roughly 382,600 with an additional 67,800 Civilian deaths making a total of around 450,400 British deaths.

    I'm not sure however how many british men left to fight however at a estimate i would guess millions. At first they were strict about who they accepted into the Army however this didn't last very long and soon men and boys were recruited.
