how much caffeine is too much for an adult woman that is 170 lbs i drink more than a couple cups a day and i was wondering how many mg a day is too much.

  1. 300mg of caffeine is the maximum safe level of caffeine intake we should have in a day.

    Even in small doses caffeine dehydrates and depletes us of calcium and B vitamins. We can have difficulty sleeping and get headaches and muscle aches from regular caffeine use too. But not drinking any at least 4 hours before going to bed and drinking enough water to offset the dehydrating effects will prevent these.

    Long term use of too much caffeine can cause sleeping problems, kidney problems, heart problems, skin problems, and even problems with other organs.

    Cups of what? Cups = 8 ounces = 1 serving

    Green tea has 30mg per serving

    Soda has 30 - 50mg per serving

    Black tea has 50mg per serving

    Energy drinks have 80 - 84mg per serving

    Coffee starts at 85mg per serving


  2. well, a million mg would be too much.  but so would a lesser amount.
