  1. It depends, if your driving around london then not many, lol! My step-dad is a lorry driver and all he's ever said about is the times.

  2. The tachograph is used to measure TIME and not distance.

The distance covered might be anything between zero miles, e.g. sitting in a traffic jam on the M25, and a few hundred, e.g. motorway driving with no jams (as if !!).

In other words, there is no answer to your question.

  3. I would say you are probably looking at an average of around 300 miles, but it depends on so many things such as traffic, the load you are carrying, ie is it a heavy, wide or unusual load etc.

  4. The most I ever manged in 9 hours of driving was 450 miles (early morning start on a Sunday and very little traffic).  That kind of distance is very rare, though, due to traffic, roadworks, accidents, breakdowns, tyre problems, etc, etc, etc.

Most long distance lorry drivers on the U.K. will average around 100,000 miles a year, just doing their job.

  5. Theoretically it is possible to do a maximum of 900 km  (559.26 miles) on a 10 hour driving day. This does not take into account accelerating to 90 km/h - (the stupid maximum foisted on us by the EU) - & coming back to a stop. The maximum driving time is 9 hours, (2 x 4.5 hours) extended to 10 hours twice a week. The most I have ever done is 680 km (422 miles) & I was totally knackered at the end of my shift. This last fortnight I have covered 4250 km - 2641 miles just in England & Wales. mostly at motorway speeds.

  6. 250miles

  7. Should be 448 miles. 56miles (speed limit) by 8 hrs (time limit) but they are allowed 2 extra hours twice a week.

  8. as little as possible more time in bed the better
