How many miles from mexico city to cancun?

A little over 1000 miles. See map below.  Highways are good from Mexico City to Veracruz.  I have not driven from Veracruz to Cancun, but have friends who have and they said roads are ok.

I used the Mexican government site below and came up with 1,611.250  kilometers 16:20 hours driving time and   1,197  pesos in tolls.

I have driven it, but I took three weeks to do it because I stopped in Puebla, Oaxaca, Tehuantepec, San Cristobal de las Casas, Palenque, Campeche, Merida, Chichen Itza and Cancun.  On the way back, I stopped in Coba, Chetumal, Campeche, Villahermosa, Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Orizaba, Puebla, and DF.

You really get to see the country that way.
