It will take you about 24 hours of driving to get there. I just got back from short trip to that area (I only live an hour away in Las Cruces) and did some hiking in the mountains. Sierra Blanca Peak is 12,000 feet high and the area is very beautiful. I've included a link below to my blog post which has a couple pictures from that trip.
