  1. well 30 yrs or so.... if you care for it avg about 10 to 15 yrs if its taking care of drove right with care... ive had a couple with over 400,000 and still running i wreck one that had 480,000

  2. Changing the engine oil every 3000 miles, and the transmission fluid every 30,000 miles is the cheapest way to longer engine/transmission life. No matter how careful you are, there will eventually be a clutch replacement in your future with a manual transmission.

  3. i would think the engine would go well over 200,000 miles if seviced properly. And i would think the engine with a automatic trans would last longer since it gets abused less.

  4. a lot depends on how you drive and if you take good care of your car. i have three vehicles, all have 160,000+ miles on them. my 2000 ford minivan has 215,000 on it and is still going strong. todays newer engines are designed to go farther than the cars of yester-year so with good maintenance you could easily get 300,000+ miles on a car

  5. average is about 150,000 to 200,000, but i have got over 300,000 miles in a number of cars by changing the oil and adding lucas oil treatment every oil change. i am driving a 75' pontiac lemans, with original engine, never been overhauled, with over 320,000 rite now, because of my oil changing method. lucas oil treatment is the bomb. just substitute a quart of lucas for one of the quarts of oil when changing the oil. its a little pricey (10 bucks a quart) but worth it.

  6. the automatic will last longer but only slightly because it doesn't get the grief of wrong gears or ecessive strain like a manual engine does. It can vary on what type of engine also. A big v8 will never work as hard as a little 3 cylinder 800cc engine, it also depends on what state of tune the engine is in. The more tuned it is the shorter life it will have. So it is very difficult to say how long an engine will last. average around 150,000 miles
