Because I bought a used Stratus about 6 months ago and only driven it 5,000 miles and the brake light started to come on so I took it back to the place I bought it from and there telling me that I need all new brakes and rotors for 500 bucks and then there recommending me a fuel injector cleaning for 150 and an alignment for 80 o and they only sold me the car with 1 key and dodge keys are chipped so it is 150 to get a new key made. So what I would like to know is if i am getting screwed by them and how many miles I should of got out of my brakes.

  1. although you should get more milige from your brakes you dont know how long it was before the previous owner did the brakes . The dealer should have checked them although in most states it is not required for them to do so. Brakes also bepend on how you drive as well, you will get more from the pads or shoes is you are a slow braker rather than someone who gets right up to a light or another car and steaps hard. Other drivers are brake riders who get less from the pads and shoes the price does seem a little steap that depends on the shop labor rate shop around for prices on the brake job and also on the other issues . i would get a few opinions on the conditon of the car and what it needs you can also get a fuel injector cleaner yourself at either a parts store or walmart and add it to your gas tank

  2.   Brakes should last at least 40 - 45,000 miles under normal conditons.  I can get 60,000 miles out of a set, all depends on how much you depend on the brakes.

  3. brakes vary but on average that car should get 20-25k out of the pads. it is kind of odd that they wore down so soon. as far as prices unfortunately they are in line. if you have a friend that can do brakes you can buy the parts for around 130 dollars, thats 4 rotors and front and rear pads. maybe give a friend some money or beer to do them for you. alignment price is fair but im not sure about they key

  4. that depends on a few things, like how hard are you on brakes and do you drive alot in town?
