  1. If I remember correctly its 1mm over 3/4 of the tyre usually most tyres have a rubber line on the tyre in the tread if its on or near that then it needs changing.

My last MOT cost about £27 though if you look around you may get it cheaper.

More information can be found on the link below in regard to a bike MOT.

  2. listen buddy its the only thing that keeps you from falling off the thing, don't even scrimp on the rubber its not worth it if it's dodgy dump it

  3. You need a minimum of 1mm tread across at least three quarters of the width of the tyre.

    Bike MOT about £25.

    (1.6mm for cars)

  4. if you look at some of the super bikes the rear tyre appears bald as a badger, so visible tread is out of the question, its different to a cars, l can tell you that much.

  5. 1.00 mm but dont ride it with that SUICIDAL contact demon tweeks i hade a pair of pirrelli diablo's for £100

  6. It is about the same as the rim on a USA penny. Cheers!

  7. fools,1.6mm is for a car, dont answer if u fdont know what your on about.....bikes limit is 1mm.....

i get my mot'sfor £20...most shops charge can charge up to £40...

    like i said,its 1.0mm

Tyre condition should be checked for the correct tyre pressure and tread depth. Check your owner's handbook to ensure that tyre pressure is correct for load and speed conditions. The law requires that tyre tread depth should be a minimum of 1.0mm across 3/4 of the breadth of the tread and in a continuous band around the whole circumference - and that it should meet those requirements for the length of your trip.

and thats from the rac site

  8. 1mm is the correct answer.

    1.6 are for cars.

    desert camel is right.

  9. I wouldn't ride a bike with tyres worn down to 1mm even if it's legal. Just get a new set of tyres. They are what attach you to the road so don't scrimp.
