How many minutes/hours should I run on the treadmill a day?

Inorder to lose 5 pounds every week? I know what I'm doing. I know all the risks. Just answer my question if you want an easy 10 points.

  1. you should run or jog or walk or what ever u want to do for at least 30 minutes to be heahty and to lose weight.


  2. calculate your calorie intake. lets say 2000 calories a day.

    1 pound of fat = 3500 calories

    so 5*3500 =17500 calories burn more than you eat every week

    use a factor of about 20 calories per minute burnt on a treadmill (this number goes down with how much you weigh. normally take off  1 calories per 5 lbs) then doing the math, you get:

    17500/20* 7 = 6125 minutes per week to lose 5 lbs a week.

    which is basically 900 minutes a week or about 2 hours a day if you dont change the way you eat.

  4. If i were you i would run outside, and also its better for you since you don't have something pushing your feet, But 5 pounds a week? that's alot my best guess 40-30mins... running outside not on a tread mill

  5. to lose five pounds a week you have to run a lot. you have to run for a long time order to get your heart rate up, so that you can burn fat. I run at least 10 miles a week (2 miles for 5 days) which takes me about a total of 120 hours all together (about 24 mintues a day) and i dont lose any weight. I ran 20 miles one week last month (4 miles a day, one hour a day rate) and i still didnt lose any weight, granted i am already skinny but still. so i guess youd have to run at least two miles a day! good luck
