Question:

How many minutes would i have to constantly cycle for to equivelent a 2km time trial?

your help would be appreciated. by the way this is not on a real bike, just an exercise bike.

  1. A 2km time trial?  That would be a short one.  But it depends on how fast you'd be cycling.  Going 20mph (32 kmh) , it would take about 3 min 45 sec.  At 25 mph (40kmh), 3 minutes.  At 30 mph (48.4 kmh), 2 min 28 sec.  

    48 kmh is fast, especially for us amateur cyclists :)


  2. a time trial is just that, a trial.  it is a chance to test your metal.  since you are riding a stationary, instead of expressing it like you're trying to, give yourself over to what you have.  i dont know what type of set up you have, but if it records an estimate of miles, see how many you can cover in five minutes.  then a month later try again to judge your fitness.

    here is the thing, there is a lot of range there.  2k can mean a lot of different things, because there is a lot of difference between hills and flats, straights and sharp corners, wind direction and that kind of stuff when you are actually riding one.  if i could keep an average speed over 25mph i was usually pretty pleased with my effort.
